Sunday Secrets

I'm on kind of an art kick these days... i love random shapes, bold patterns, vintage fabrics, using recycled stuff as decorating inspirations. A little splash of colour makes life so much more interesting. I want to head down to red dot design museum when I get back. Can anyone tell me when's the next MAAD?

Here's just a snippet of Print & Pattern's amazing designs.

“If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” – Gal 1:10 When you ask God to show you how much he loves you, and how beautiful He believes you to be…….Prepare to be amazed :)

this is what my desk looks like:

I need to buy time. I need to buy space. I need to learn how to actually execute my to-do-list! Um yeah, and I'm here procrastinating. Alright, full steam ahead! Heading back to S'pore in 6 days...

Happy thursday!

Sweet rain

... super cute umbrellas!

I spotted them from Pare. These umbrellas will cheer up my really wet days now. They have such fun patterns plus the lovely details on the handles. Some even have designs on the interior! Walking in the rain with this pretty thing would be my kind of fun. I want to look for something like Mary Poppin's! The vintage look with mini lace trim and a rattan handle.

Fearlessly Feminine

I have been made to think about a lot of things lately. God has been showing me and teaching me. It seems to me that I am now living in a world where the bizarre is applauded and the beautiful is ridiculed. I’ve seen the rapid demise of femininity.

You know being feminine doesn’t mean wearing old long dresses. Many ask themselves if femininity – and it’s enjoyment – really is passé. I’ve heard many describe modesty as ‘boring’ or ‘unattractive’. Seriously, what is it that have made people think this way? I believe one can be modest and actually fashionable too. For a long time women search for liberation, yet today we are more in bondage than ever. Slaves to the endless pursuit of physical perfection. Always striving to stay in style with the latest rave. Tiring isn’t it?

Modesty to me is a responsibility to behave and dress in a manner as to not draw attention to myself, not think proudly of myself and a decision to protect from unintended enticement. There however is a line in almost everything, where modesty can become absurdity too! The point isn’t to cover up every single bit of flesh. It doesn’t mean the longer your skirt is the holier you are. Even clothing too loose will work against a good testimony.

“I’ve called you to be royalty, My princess. You don’t have to conform to the wardrobe of this world to feel good about yourself. Remember, what you wear initially defines what people think about you. I want your wardrobe to honor Me. You don’t need to dress to get attention - I can make you more beautiful than any fashion designer because I specialize in internal and eternal makeovers. Your favor and beauty radiate because you are a reflection of Me. Keep in mind that those who design clothes to expose your body do not love your soul like I do. My love, let your wardrobe reveal my Spirit - not your flesh. So robe yourself today like the royalty you are.”

Love,Your King and your eternal beauty
(Taken from His Princess by Sherri Rose Shepherd, former Mrs. USA)

I’ve chat many a times with my girl friends about how ungentlemanly guys are nowadays but I never once really thought if I had actually rob men of the opportunity to exercise the protective, gentlemanly considerations native to their masculinity. How easily I’ve turned down their ways of serving without even thinking!

Well yes, outward femininity is extremely important. Yet, the topic of femininity definitely gets a little deeper and more complex when talking about having a spirit of femininity on the inside. Yet this is what my Heavenly Father talks about and what is “in His sight of great price”.

Just the girl

"Teacherrrr, how old are you?"
"I'm only 19. Why?"
"Do you have children?"

Tell me what I should have said.

Red Dot.

I cannot believe how a month just went by like that. After 8 months, touching base felt unreal yet at the same time it seemed like I never once left. Living in Spore does have its merits I realize. So in the past month back on that little red dot ...

1.060707 . Primary school gathering. Truthfully, I was a little apprehensive to go. I've not met most of them in the last 7 years. After the usual "Oh I remember you, so what are you doing now?" silence would fall... I thought. Guess I was wrong! I'm glad I dragged myself down on that first meet up. We had such a good time that night we meet up on another two more occasions! Good old buddies for life. We just picked up where we last ended.

2. 070707. Birthday girl :) I just want to thank all who made me feel like a princess (or maybe more like a handicap) that day. Woke up to a beautifully decorated house designed by the sister with gifts all exotically wrapped up just to keep me in suspense. The brother got his guitar out and sang an off tune "happy birthday". What would life be without them. Breakfast- 'Tim Sum' at granny's place. Could not have spent that day without her in it. Lunch- Godma's (17th floor) Mee siam. I still drool at the thought of this. Invited Hang & Joyce along. Mom made a mango cheesecake for me and though it's like tradition that she does it for all her children, It's still so very special. I always feel the love in each bite i take. Spent the afternoon with joyce, doing what we do best! Exploring those unknown areas of S'pore. Got a clutch for just 3 bucks. If you know me, you'd know how much joy it brings when I dig up some treasures like that. Dinner- Seafood! at boat quay with NYF'ers. You know I love you guys. CRAB, PRAWNS. I could not stop smiling at those pincers. It was finger licking good. Coming out of the washroom, there was a cake on the table. It was pretty. really pretty! plus the way you guys placed my candles and how they all lit up was unforgettable. As I looked at the cameras and smiled away, I thought to myself what a day! Little did I know that the biggest event of my birthday was still awaiting me. After doing the traditional NYF'ers circle, we headed to west coast park to revive our childhood days. Up the spider webs, balancing on poles ... the birthday girl was treated with a last birthday exclusive. With a bit too strong a push on the flying fox, her foot whacked! onto a pillar sending her flying back in acute pain to the opposite end. All she could do was hold on to her foot and pray that it would not drop off. Well, up till now my fourth toe is not functioning well but I look back at the incident and think of it as a gift. A blessing though sacrifices were made. Each time I was supported to walk or even carried around, I was reminded that I can't run this race alone. To my family and dear friends, you guys touch my heart. To my one and only God, thanks for these 19 years thus far.

3. 080707. Family's Commissioning Service. As I knelt down to be prayed for, tears of joy came running down. It's been 4 years since I prayed that if it is God's will, I would serve Him in Thailand one fine day. I never knew nor know what God has in hand but I can assure you my friend that he knows what is best. To those which came, i'm truely grateful.

You know what! I think I'll just let the rest of the pictures do the talking :)

PHPPS (Settlers Cafe)

Commissioning Service. "So send I you"

Explorer buddies at 'Lao Pa Sat' after flea. Taking joyce's words " under the night sky, we just talked and talked about our future plus heaps more, and walked all the way to the Esplanade. So romantic man. "

365 days more before i hit 20. Boy do i feel old.

Just thinking about memories. How they come to you at the oddest moments. I'm glad that I've always love taking photos. They really do capture beautiful moments. Memories are very important to me. Some makes you smile to yourself.

My girls. We go a long way back.

The foot

I miss him terribly. SIGH. 100707. Goodbyes are never easy but we've become too use to it. It was weird to see my brother off at the airport because it usually is the other way round. Don't know when I'll next see him but 'jia yuo' kor! Study hard and stay focus. Always my big brother.

It's time to prepare and cook another meal. I still have sweeping and mopping to do! 10 days of being a student, a teacher, a cook, a housekeeper. Mom come back SOON. I've run out of ideas on what to cook already. Any suggestions? Well, more pictures the next time. Toodles~

Happy happy Birthday to me

Yes, i know. I'm getting older! I tend to get quite reflective on the milestone days of the year: birthday, New Years and so on. Today is no different. If i were to sum up my 19 years of life, a book won't be enough. Every experience in those years would be too much to recall. All I know is that I've tasted the Lord's faithfulness and goodness. He truely is gracious. As a daughter, a sister, a friend I still have a long, long way to go. I look forward to improving in each of these areas and seeing just what God has in store for me.

Maybe you'll be mine on my 21st.
